Ringside Payback Nov 13, 2010

This past weekend I had a great time at the Ringside event in Montreal. I ran into some faces that I already knew but also meet a lot of new people. This event was very well attended, and the fighters put on a great show.
Congrats goes out to Chris Clements for this recent title victory over Jonathan Goulet. Clements welterweight title defence will be versus Alex Garcia. This should turn out to be a great fight. I'm looking forward to the next event put on by Ringside MMA (possibly Bell Center) as their events just keep getting better and better.

Workshop

This past weekend I attended a workshop hosted by Gord Weber. I've always enjoyed his photography. After this workshop we got to shoot a University Football game - Ottawa Vs. Guelph. I ended up shooting the game with my Nikon 300mm F4 and came out with some good results I think.

Here are a couple shots, but for more please visit my flickr account.

Enjoy,

Tim

Sky Venture Montreal

Date : July 23

Location : Montreal

Activity : Indoor Sky Diving
Not really knowing what to expect Kristy and I jumped in the car and drove to Montreal in the early AM. After our arrival being greeted my Myron and Jennifer, we registering at the front desk we made our way upstairs.

Our agenda for the day was kinda simple because we were first time "flyers". We had an introductory course with an instructor to go over the basic body position and hand signals used inside the tunnel. Sounds simple enough !!

After watching some others in our group in tunnel it was our turn. Kristy caught on after her second session and was getting better at stabilizing, and I happened to catch on pretty quick. In my second session I was moving up/down, side to side, back/forth, and even doing some spins while going up and down.

It was a great feeling and the closet thing you can get to skydiving-free fall, without jumping out of a plane. I hopefully planning on a second trip.

Enjoy the photos!

Jennifer and her entry into the tunnel. It was really smooth and hopefully I can get mine to look that natural!

One of the Canadian National free fall skydivers who instructs here at Sky Venture! Man did he move effortlessely inside the tunnel!

The racing season has begun!!

Ride with Rendall put this event together and I was out to capture some of the action. I managed to get quite a few keepers with the new gear, despite taking time to pick up 2 riders who encountered mechanical issues and could not continue.
The first rider was still in the first stage of the race, but with the gravel roads he managed to pop his tire and his tube. Even with applying a patch he was uncertain how long it would last until it blew again. We jumped in the car and I drove him back to Rockland and unloaded his bike. An unhappy start to the season for this rider.
The 2nd rider that found me on the side of the road, and was hoping I was part of the race committee in search of a ride back to Rockland. This guy was actually just behind the lead pack. Then I found out the reason he was coming to see me was he had a bent chain, and front derailleur that was broken. Instead of driving this racer back he tagged along with me to another location to shoot from before heading back to the final corner for some more shots.
This was kinda exciting for my first race even though I was on the sidelines taking photographs, but once I get going again I'll be racing instead of photographing.

Thanks for stopping by and here are some teaser photos below, but the slide show is coming soon!

Bonnechere Cup Slide Show -- Finally !!

So I finally got around to getting a bunch of shots together from this event. This was the first test with my new equipment, and it held up really well! This year they introduced the snocross and I definitely love it. Possibly enough to follow them from event to event next year, in South/Eastern Ontario & Northern NY if possible.

Well I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them.

Click here for the link to the slide show!!

Bonnechere Cup

Had the privilage to shoot from inside the oval for the races this past weekend. Here are 2 shots as a teaser but I'll have more coming up soon. It was great to shoot the regular races but to also see the Snocross was awesome. Being able to get right up close and personal at the jumps was great.

Stay tuned for more photos....
